Email marketing for peptide brands has two problems most agencies never see: the sending platform can shut you off, and the customers who do buy are worth far more than a single order. iComChain builds retention email for research-use-only (RUO) peptide and other regulated brands on platforms that will actually host the list, with compliant templates, six core flows tied to the research reorder cycle, and deliverability work so the emails land. In our largest managed account, email contributes about a third of revenue.

Why peptide brands lose their list
The pattern is familiar. A research-peptide brand grows on Google Shopping and word of mouth, builds a customer list of a few thousand buyers, and connects it to a mainstream email platform. Everything works for a while. Then, usually after a template review or an abuse-team flag, the account is suspended under a pharmaceutical, restricted-product or “products that may be harmful” clause in the acceptable-use policy. Scheduled campaigns stop. Flows stop. Sometimes the list export is blocked, and a year of retention data disappears with it.
This happens because research peptides look, to a compliance reviewer scanning product names and images, like pharmaceuticals. Most mainstream email service providers do not distinguish between a laboratory reagent sold for research use and a drug marketed for people, and their terms are written broadly enough to cover both. Brands rarely lose the list because of anything they wrote; they lose it because of what they sell.
The second problem is quieter. Research peptides carry a high average order value ($1,000+ in our managed US accounts) and research programmes reorder on a predictable cycle. A brand that only acquires and never retains is paying Google for the same customer several times over. Email is the cheapest way to own that repeat purchase, but only if the list survives.
What we set up
Platform selection and migration
We start by choosing where the list will live. That means reviewing each candidate platform’s acceptable-use policy for pharmaceutical and restricted-product language, checking how it handles RUO products in practice, and selecting a primary platform plus a fallback. We then migrate the list cleanly: export from the current provider (or recover what can be recovered from your store platform), preserve customer, order and engagement data, warm the new sending domain, and rebuild flows before the old platform is switched off.
Compliant templates with RUO disclaimers
Every template carries a research-use-only disclaimer in the footer, product copy written in scientific rather than consumer language, and no health, dosage, treatment or outcome claims. We build the templates so that a compliance reviewer at the sending platform, or at Google, would find nothing that contradicts the store’s own RUO positioning.
The six core flows
- Welcome for new subscribers and first-time buyers: who the brand is, how it handles purity and certificates of analysis (COAs), how to order.
- Abandoned cart written for a considered, high-value purchase rather than an impulse one.
- Post-purchase covering order confirmation context, shipping and storage handling information, and where to find the COA.
- Reorder cycle timed to the typical replenishment interval of what was bought, so the reminder arrives before the researcher goes back to Google.
- Win-back for customers who have lapsed past their expected reorder window.
- COA and restock announcements triggered by new batch documentation or inventory returning for products a customer previously bought.
List hygiene and deliverability
Domain authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), a dedicated sending subdomain, sunset policies for unengaged contacts, bounce and complaint monitoring, and inbox-placement checks. Regulated senders have less margin for error on reputation, so the list is kept smaller and cleaner than a consumer brand would tolerate.
The six flows at a glance
| Flow | Trigger | Timing | Goal |
|---|---|---|---|
| Welcome | New subscriber or first order | Immediately, then day 2 and day 5 | Establish trust: COAs, purity standards, ordering process |
| Abandoned cart | Cart started, no checkout | 1 hour, 24 hours, 72 hours | Recover high-value considered purchases |
| Post-purchase | Order placed | On order, on dispatch, 7 days after delivery | Reduce support tickets, surface COA and handling information |
| Reorder cycle | Days since last order of a given product | Set per product, typically 7–10 days before expected depletion | Capture the repeat order before the customer searches again |
| Win-back | No order past expected reorder window | Window + 14 days, then + 30 days | Reactivate lapsed customers or confirm sunset |
| COA / restock | New batch documentation or inventory back in stock | Event-driven, segmented to prior buyers | Turn documentation and availability into orders |
Compliance in every email
Peptide email is only as durable as its compliance. Copy uses research-use-only language throughout: products are described by name, sequence, purity and format, never by effect on a person. There are no health claims, no dosage or protocol suggestions, no before-and-after language and no implied human use. Every email carries a footer disclaimer that the products are intended for laboratory research purposes only and are not for human consumption, diagnostic or therapeutic use, along with the sender’s physical address and a working unsubscribe link, as CAN-SPAM requires in the US. For UK and EU contacts we set up consent capture and records that meet GDPR and PECR expectations, and we keep the consent source on every profile so the list can be defended if anyone asks. The same disclaimer language appears on the store, in the Merchant Center listings and in the emails, so nothing in one channel undermines another.
How it fits with Google Ads and Merchant Center
Email is the retention half of the same system we run on the acquisition side. Google Shopping and Search bring in the first order at under $50 cost per conversion in our managed accounts; email turns that first order into the second, third and fourth without paying Google again. Practically, that means the flows are built around the products and reorder cycles the ads are driving, the disclaimer and claim standards are identical across ads, landing pages and emails (a health claim in a newsletter is exactly the kind of thing that surfaces in a Merchant Center misrepresentation review), and reporting shows blended customer economics rather than a channel in isolation. Brands that come to us for Google Ads for peptides usually add email once acquisition is stable.
Results
We do not promise outcomes. What we can share is what has happened in our managed accounts. In our largest account, a US research-peptide brand that scaled from $0 to roughly $4M per month in about 22 months, email contributes about a third of revenue, alongside a $1,000+ average order value and 5× ROAS on paid. Your results will depend on list size, order frequency and how much history survives migration, and we will give you a realistic view on the first call.
Pricing
Peptide email marketing engagements start at $1,500 and scale with list size, covering platform selection and migration, template build, the six core flows, ongoing campaigns and deliverability management. Larger lists, SMS and combined Google Ads and email retainers are scoped on the call. If your Merchant Center is also suspended, reinstatement is a separate flat $1,500 engagement, and the Merchant Center Suspension Audit tool is $149 if you want to check the site yourself first.

Frequently asked questions
Which email platforms allow peptide companies?
There is no permanent safe list, and we are careful about naming platforms because policies change. Most mainstream email service providers, including the ones every Shopify guide recommends, have acceptable-use clauses covering pharmaceuticals, restricted products or “products that may be harmful”, and they can suspend research-peptide senders under those clauses even when the content is compliant. Some platforms are more tolerant of research-use-only sellers in practice, and some specialised or self-hosted options give you more control. On the first call we review your current platform’s terms, recommend a primary and a fallback, and plan the migration so the list is never dependent on a single provider’s goodwill.
Will you migrate my list?
Yes. We export contacts, order history and engagement data where the current platform allows it, reconstruct what we can from the store platform where it does not, verify consent status, warm the new sending domain and rebuild flows before anything is switched off. If your account has already been suspended and export is blocked, the store’s own customer and order data is usually enough to rebuild the core segments.
How long does it take to see results?
Migration and the six core flows are typically live within three to four weeks. Abandoned-cart and post-purchase flows produce revenue almost immediately because they act on existing traffic. Reorder-cycle, win-back and restock flows build over the following months as customers reach their triggers. In our managed accounts email’s share of revenue has grown steadily as the buyer base has matured rather than arriving all at once.
Do you write the emails?
Yes. We write all flow and campaign copy in research-use-only language, design the templates, and run each email through a compliance check before it is scheduled. You review and approve; we handle production. If you have in-house writers we can supply the compliance framework and review their drafts instead.
Can you do SMS?
Sometimes. SMS carriers and platforms apply stricter content rules than email, and many block restricted-product categories outright at the carrier level. Where a compliant route exists we add transactional and reorder SMS alongside email; where it does not, we will tell you rather than risk a number being cut off. We scope SMS separately after reviewing your market and the available platforms.
What disclaimers are needed?
At minimum: a research-use-only statement in every email footer saying the products are intended for laboratory research purposes only and are not for human consumption, diagnostic or therapeutic use; the sender’s physical postal address and a working unsubscribe mechanism as CAN-SPAM requires; and, for UK and EU recipients, a clear identification of the sender and a lawful basis for the email under GDPR and PECR. Product-level copy should avoid any claim about effects on people. We keep the disclaimer wording identical across your store, your Merchant Center listings and your emails.
